An early departure today as we travel north, around the west side of the Adirondack Mountains by way of Utica and/or Syracuse. A short ferry ride takes us to the fabulous Boldt Castle, 100-year old Rhineland style mansion-home of George & Louise Boldt, manager of the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. Stunningly beautiful. Complete self-guided tour and time to explore on you own.
Our official visit to Canada begins as we cross the international 1,000 Island Bridge with the spectacularly beautiful islands stretched out below us. After we clear Canadian Immigration, we head directly to our hotel.
Relax a bit before our first dinner, and if you choose ahead of time, enjoy Theatre at the historic “Thousand Island Playhouse” (seasonal and optional).
Day 2 bctd Kingston - Gananoque - 1,000 Islands Cruise
Breakfast first, then we begin with a cruise on the St. Lawrence River among the jewel-like 1,000 Islands, a truly grand way to share in the natural beauty of the St. Lawrence River Next a guided tour of Kingston, Ontario, Canada’s first capital, past The Royal Military College (Canada’s West Point) including a tour of Fort Henry, built to protect the English from the unruly Americans during the War of 1812. Day 3 bt Ottawa & Rideau Canal Tour
Our journey today takes us along the route of the historic Rideau Canal with a stop at the “locks” along the canal. We arrive in Ottawa in time for a late lunch in the ByWard Market area. After, we will have a complete guided tour of Ottawa. Later this afternoon there is time for browsing and shopping before we check into our hotel for the next two nights. Dinner this evening is on your own. Your guide will offer several suggestions nearby. After dinner, the Casino of Hull.
Day 4 bd River Cruise - Parliament - Museums - ByWard
After breakfast this morning, we begin with a tour of Parliament Hill and the dramatic and inspiring Changing of the Guard on Parliament lawn. (sesaonal) After lunch on your own at the ByWard Market, this afternoon you have many options, all within walking distance (about 500 feet!). Of special note is the Canadian War Museum’s collection of historic military equipment. Also, the National Gallery of Canada (art) is right across the street, adjacent to the Rideau Canal! Enjoy a refreshing River or Canal Cruise*, plus the Bytown Museum in Canada’s oldest stone house is right there. More than enough to keep you busy for several days. Dinner is included tonight.
Day 5 b Montreal or Lake Placid on the way Home

After breakfast we travel to Kingston. and then a guided tour of Kingston, Ontario, Canada’s first capital, past The Royal Military College (Canada’s West Point) including a tour of Fort Henry, built to protect the English from the unruly Americans during the War of 1812. We complete our day with a cruise among the beautiful 1,000 Islands, Costumed interpreters will help us with their perspective of the war. Dinner tonight is inside historic Fort Henry.
DAY 4 btd Kingston - Ottawa
Our journey today takes us along the route of the Rideau Canal connecting Kingston and Ottawa, and the oldest Canal in North America. Lovely! We arrive in Ottawa in time for lunch in the ByWard Market area. After lunch, we will have a complete guided tour of Ottawa and River Cruise. Later this afternoon there is time for browsing and shopping before we check into our hotel. Dinner this evening is at the historic Marble Works Restaurant. After dinner, there is time for a visit to the Casino of Hull.

DAY 5 bd Ottawa - Montreal
Breakfast first, then a Tour of Parliament Hill. Next, the Museum of Civilization (7-Day Tour). Fantastic programs on Canadian History are included. After lunch on your own at the By Ward market. This afternoon we depart for Montreal. We enter Canada’s Province of Quebec and you will notice many differences (and similarities, too). Road signs are metric and in French! Time for your French lessons to begin! After arrival in Montreal we will have a brief driving orientation tour so you can get the “feel” of Montreal. Montreal is indeed a vibrant, alive city and lots of fun. So much to see.
Montreal really comes to life at night. Dinner is at the fabulous and then tonight, we will take you to the Casino of Montreal for a bit of international gambling. As is appropriate for a “world class city”, proper dress is requested: suggested that a gentlemen wear a jacket, just like Monte Carlo. Of course, your Canadian Dollar lasts longer if you play conservatively!
DAY 6 bdt Montreal - Local
After a leisurely breakfast, (included) we spend the entire morning on a Guided-Narrated Tour covering just about all or the “highlights” of Montreal from Mount Royal to St. Joseph’s Oratory, Notre Dame, Chinatown, Old Port, Old Montreal, and much more. After our sightseeing, you will have several choices. Your coach will drop you off at your favorite spot (we will give you choices and maps OR you can elect to take a ride on Montreal’s famous Metro (subway) very safe and quiet OR you can shop and stroll the main drag, St. Catherine Street, OR you can visit Underground Montreal, 10 miles of underground shopping, or you can take a horse drawn carriage ride OR..........well, you get the idea. Lots to do and we will help you choose, too. You are on your own to tour your favorite places. This is a “small, big city”, so you can easily find your way around. DAY 7 b Montreal - Home via Airline - Amtrak - Motorcoach
A hearty breakfast first, (included) then you have the morning for some last minute touring and shopping. Visit the “Underground City”. Late morning departure takes us on one of two routes, each with a stop at a “Duty Free” shop:
1. Noon depart thru the Adirondack Mountains on our way home. Lake George for an early dinner on your own.
