1. On the train, best to check your 1 large suitcase, and take a smaller overnight bag with you
for the 1,2,3 overnight train segments. It is much easier for you to handle. 50 lb MAX. per bag
2. There is NO access to checked luggage on the train - for security purposes.
- Gratuities -
1. Gratuities ARE included for many portions of your tour, such as your restaurant waiters, hotel bellmen and Amtrak Luggage Handlers (Porters).
2. Gratuities are NOT included for the following people: Amtrak and VIA Train Car Attendants. On-Board-Service (OBS) personnel, who are there to make your trip as pleasant as possible.
Each car has one attendant, both in Coach or First Class.

An early start today allows to recross the Continental Divide thru Logan Pass at 6,646 feet elevation and then across the International border into Alberta, Canada. The land flattens out a bit as we pass thru Calgary and on to Banff, our home for the next two nights.
Dinner Theatre this evening completes a beautiful day.
Day 5 bl Banff - Lake Louise (combined with Day 10 on 11 day tour)
After a hearty breakfast we continue our adventure into some of the most beautiful, dramatic displays of Mother Nature anywhere in the world. A Tour of the Banff area includes lovely Bow Falls and the enchanting Hodoos, land of sleeping giants. Luncheon today is at the incredible Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Relax and enjoy the pure mountain air and the crystal clear lake.

The base tour is the 12-Day Tour. It is the most relaxed and well-paced. The 10 and 11 Day tour, while covering the same route and attractions, does not have as much time in some locations such as Yellowstone.
Pricing is seasonal with slight adjustments for the date of departure due to higher hotel and transportation costs during the “in season”.

The WEST was explored by 3 Countries - France - England - United States of America. After the French left in 1759 and the English departed in 1783, it was left for Americans in the United States, and Canadians, still governed by England - to Explore this vast area occupied only by Natives and a smattering of French and English Fur Traders until 1792 Alexander Mackenzie in Canada, Crossed the Rocly Mountains to the Pacific Ocean in only 9 months including a winter encampment -
12 years later, President Thomas Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the region, and report back. It took almost three years and many people had given them up for lost. Accompanied by more than 25 French Trappers and Fur traders, the Lewis and Clark Expedition opened the vast land that we call "The West"
